The Xantrex XW6048 is pretty legendary for its reliability and flexibility. It serves as the foundation of an alternative energy system and can be used in either off-grid or grid-tie applications, for solar, hydroelectric, generator or mule-driven systems. Built-in generator support. Multiple units can be stacked for single- or three-phase systems. It’s still well-supported. For a minimal system, you’ll want this inverter, a charge controller, and a Schneider or Xantrex SCP control panel. TESTING: I connected 48V up to the battery inputs of all three of my 6048s, and I connected them to my house 240VAC in grid-tie mode. They synced up and the output was 240VAC. I also reset them without the grid connection, and they came up in off-grid mode at 240VAC. I did not have an SCP or a charge controller, so I could not test the bottom connections.
